Consulting in OD and organizational change for non-governmental and public sector

Trainer and Consultant for Partners for Democratic Change Slovakia, Jan Mihalik studied Social work at Comenius University in Bratislava, specialized on management of NGOs working in the field of social help. From 2001 to 2003 he completed Postgraduate Diploma Social Development Practice at London Metropolitan University, UK.
He is a consultant, trainer, and evaluator in the fields of OD and organizational change, youth work and youth policy, and religion and conflict resolution. He has significant experience training/consulting e.g. NGO leaders and volunteers, university students, church representatives, and government officials in Slovakia as well as abroad (Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Lithuania, and Romania). He has been working for Partners for Democratic Change Slovakia since 2000. Prior to joining Partners for Democratic Change Slovakia, he was an executive director and later the president of DOMKA – Association of Salesian Youth, which is one of the biggest Slovak youth organizations.

Jana Zahradníčková, VIA Foundation, Czech Republic
Jana Zahradníčková studied at Faculty of Philosophy and Arts, Charles University in Prague, with major in social and cultural anthropology. Currently she studies Civic Sector at School of Humanity Studies, Charles University in Prague. Since 2003 she works as a program manager of the Trust for a Civil Society in CEE which is in the Czech Republic run by the VIA Foundation. Here she works mainly on programs of organizational development of NGOs. Her previous experience in non-profit sector includes developing projects in networking of regional support centers for NGOS and providing information services for NGOs.

To prepare NGOs for the acquisition and use of funds following Poland’s integration into the EU
In 2003 The Network of Information and Support for NGOs SPLOT and Polish – American Freedom Foundation have started a program. The aim of the program is to build widely accessible system of information, training, assistance regarding the acquisition and use of EU funds.
Now, after 20 months from the beginning of the program, we would like to share our experiences.

Peter Meszáros, Association Trilobit, Slovakia
Graduated from the Comenius University and the University of Economics in Bratislava with a Bachelor of Arts in political science and business administration respectively and The University of Chicago Divinity School where he received an M.A. in religious studies. Peter has been working in the nonprofit sector for several years both in Slovakia and the United States (US Peace Corps, Slovakia; Pacific University Language Institute, Oregon; California School Leadership Academy; California; Institute for Public Affairs, Slovakia). Presently he attends to issues of organizational development and economic sustainability of nonprofit nongovernmental organizations. To this purpose Peter has recently founded a servicing nonprofit named TRILOBIT that engages in projects of organizational planning, website and database development, publicity material text development and production, and grant writing.
