TAK Association
Short history of TAK - Association of Trainers and Consultants
From year 1996 to 2000, a group of well-trained community leaders, trainers, and consultants was formed. After each training series, participants expresses their wish to continue meeting the group, give each other information and continue in their education. Based on their initiative, PDCS started to publish the TAK Newsletter and to organize supervision meetings and seminars for TAK members. In 2002, another "generation" of consultants and trainers graduated from their training series. TAK has taken the shape of a very informal support group for consultants and trainers working in the nonprofit and public sectors.
The existence of TAK gave inspiration to Czech colleagues who created in 2003 Obec konzultantu (Consultants' Guild), along with the VIA Foundation with which we have developed cooperation and joint activities.
Mission of TAK Association
Following a discussion at the introductory meeting of people interested in the existance of and membership in a professional association of trainers and consultants for the nonprofit sector, the general agreement was expressed on March 20, 2000 with the following goals:
- to support association members in their personal and professional development,
- to exchange and provide to each other experience, materials and working methods,
- to develop and update a database of trainers and consultants,
- to create a library with technical literature and training materials,
- to make and maintain contacts with other training organizations inside the country and abroad, to build a good reputation and trademark of quality, and
- to implement new trends in education of nonprofit organizations.
